What is Metal Casting?

Metal casting is the process of pouring metal in liquid form into a mold and taking the desired shape. This method is usually carried out by pouring molten metal into a mold and then cooling and solidifying to obtain the desired part. Metal casting is an important production method with a wide range of applications in the industry.

Metal casting is carried out by melting various metals, usually iron, aluminum, copper, zinc and magnesium, and pouring them into suitable molds. These molds are usually made of sand, cast soil, metal or ceramic materials and are designed according to the shape and dimensions of the desired part.

The metal casting process usually includes the following steps:

Mold Preparation: The mold of the desired part is prepared. This mold usually consists of two parts and forms the cavity to be poured after the metal is melted.
Metal Melting: The relevant metal is melted to a certain temperature in a suitable furnace or stove. When the metal reaches its melting point, it becomes liquid and ready to be poured.
Casting: The molten metal is poured into the prepared mold. The metal is carefully controlled while being poured into the mold and poured into the mold to take the shape of the desired part.

Cooling and Solidification: After the metal is poured into the mold, it is left to cool. During the cooling process, the metal solidifies and takes the shape of the desired part.
Mold Separation: After the metal has completely cooled, the mold parts are separated and the metal part inside is removed.
Cleaning and Processing: The resulting metal part is cleaned and processed if necessary. This process ensures that the part has a smooth surface and has the desired properties.

Metal casting is generally preferred in the production of parts with complex shapes. Metal casting is a frequently used production method in the automotive industry for engine parts, home appliances, structural parts and many industrial applications.

As a result, metal casting is the process of pouring metal in liquid form into a mold and taking the desired shape. This method has a wide range of use in the industry and is used in the production of various metal parts in many different sectors.
